Developing a Robust Bioventing Model

Bioventing is a widely recognized technique for the remediation of petroleum hydrocarbon-contaminated soil. In this study, objective was to identify an optimal mathematical model that balances accuracy and ease implementation. A comprehensive review various models developed bioventing conducted wherein advantages disadvantages each were evaluated compared regarding different numerical methods used solve relevant equations. After investigating assumptions from literature, improved foundational characterizes gas flow in unsaturated zones where water non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) are present immobile, accounting interphase mass transfer biodegradation, incorporating soil properties through rate constant correlation. The proposed solved using finite volume method OpenFOAM, independent dimensional open-source coding toolbox. preliminary simulation results simple case indicate good agreement with exact analytical solution same This has potential enhance predictions process support development efficient strategies
